We will begin with 3 days in Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan capital city of Argentina, see a tango and visit an estancia. The Iguazu Falls and National Park are located 10 miles from Puerto Iguazu. The deep- flowing waters of the river fall from a height of 30 feet through 275 falls over one and a half mile. The frontier with Brazil goes through the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) where the falling water gives the illusion of magic rainbows. The National Park is full of the exotic subtropical vegetation which surrounds the falls and has 2,000 plant species – gigantic trees, ferns, lianas, orchids; 400 bird species – parrots, colibries, toucans; jaguars and yacarés (caimans).

The Ibera Estuary, the largest wetland in Argentina, whose name comes from the Guarani “y bera,” meaning bright water, covers an area of more than 15,000 square kilometers. A unique, pristine landscape full of marshes and savannahs, it is also home to many fascinating species such as two Argentine alligators, the howler monkey, neotropical river otter, the Capybara (the world’s largest rodent) and the Marsh Deer. Situated among the Parana, Paraguay and Uruguay Rivers, the Ibera Estuary provides visitors with an experience unlike most tourist destinations.

This tour starts with 4 days in the capital city of Buenos Aires, including a visit to an estancia, and a tango dinner show. We then travel south to Ushuaia, the southernmost city on the continent. Here we will visit Tierra del Fuego National Park, ride on the Train to the End of the World, take a cruise on the Beagle Channel and take an off-road excursion on 4×4 vehicles to Lake Fagnano. From Ushuaia, we travel to Calafate to spend 2 days at Glaciers National Park, for an up-close visit to the Perito Moreno and Upsala glaciers with a fantastic boat excursion on Onelli Bay.

From Caracas we fly to historical Ciudad Bolivar, located on the banks of the Orinoco River. After a short flight to Canaima we journey by dugout canoe towards imposing Auyan Tepui, from which the silvery torrents of Angel Falls pour. We hike through the lush canopied rainforest to the base of the world’s highest waterfall and go on to visit the stunning stepped watercourse of Sapo. We then return to Canaima to explore the lagoon and relax on the pink quartz sand beach. Returning to the Orinoco River we venture by boat into the dense jungle and mysterious world of the Warao Indians. Teaming with wildlife the trees are alive with the chants of howler monkeys and blue and gold macaws. Before flying back to Caracas we spend a few nights on the beach, absorbing the tropical beauty of the Paria Peninsula.
